My toilet seems to have a life of it’s own, sometimes it sounds like it flushes all by itself for no reason. What’s wrong with
it?
Answer- in almost all cases like this, the problem is that water is seeping out of the toilet tank and into the bowl. After the water level
in the tank lowers enough the fill valve will automatically refill the tank, and that is the sound of flushing that you hear. To
test for this after the tank refills, with a magic marker mark the water level inside the tank. Shut off the water fill valve at
floor and leave for 2 hours. When you come back later check to see if the water level has dropped. If it has, then the flapper
valve at the bottom of the tank needed to be replaced. Don,t forget to turn the water back on!
